The Toronto Birth Centre Board of Directors is seeking to establish a Community Council which will work closely with the Board of Directors in areas such as strategic planning, community engagement, quality assurance, and cultural programming. The Community Council will play an important role in the appointment of individuals to the TBC Board of Directors and including dialogue with the established Midwives Council.
The TBC Board of Directors aims to recruit members who can best accomplish the objectives of TBC, in alignment with its vision, core values, Indigenous framework, and current strategic plan. We are seeking Council members who have knowledge and experience in the areas of health and wellness and midwifery practices in Ontario. To that end, Council members must be at least 18 years of age, reside in Toronto and self-identify as being of Indigenous descent, or are identified by existing members as demonstrating recognition and pursuit of self-determination and rights of Aboriginal peoples.
The Community Council will meet on a quarterly basis at a pre-determined time. This is a voluntary opportunity to foster and support cultural integrity in policies, guidelines and programs used by the Toronto Birth Centre.
If you are interested in becoming a member of the TBC Community Council, kindly download the required TBC Community Council membership form and Terms of Reference. Kindly send your membership form, statement of interest, and current resume to torontobirthcentre@gmail.com
TBC membership form and supporting documentation must be received no later than Friday June 20th. Deadline now extended to July 11th.
